AMD Radeon Catalyst Driver 13.4 new enhancements for Steam - the news and how to install them on Ubuntu
In conjunction with the highly anticipated release of Ubuntu 04.13 Raring the development team has released the brand new AMD Radeon Catalyst 13.4 drivers and especially by introducing several new enhancements that make it even more stable and perform above all the games on Linux.
AMD Radeon Catalyst 13.4 as well as several fixes reported by users and developers encountered by improving support for Kernel 3.7 and 3.8 the latter by default on Ubuntu 13.04.
By partnering with Valve the new AMD Radeon Catalyst 13.4 introduces several optimizations for both OpenCL and for the new Unity 7.0 on Ubuntu 04.13 this by adding or better still improving support for OpenCL Console Mode.
AMD Catalyst 13.4 introduces several improvements and optimizations especially for the game Serious Sam 3 and Team Fortress 2 on Steam platform available for Linux also going to fix some bugs found in: Mayan 2012 Benchmark, NX8.0, Saturn XT and Maxon.

AMD has already made available the new Radeon Catalyst 13.4 Driver to install on Ubuntu we can use the PPA Andrikos or the xorg-edgers PPA (currently not yet updated, alternatively we can install it by downloading the driver from this link, extract the zip file and move the file amd-driver-amd-catalyst-13.4-linux-x86.x86_64.run the home and start the terminal and type:
remove the old drivers :
- sudo sh /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh
- sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx fglrx_* fglrx-amdcccle* fglrx-dev* xorg-driver-fglrx
and install the new one:
- chmod + x amd-catalyst-13.4-linux-x86.x86_64.run
- sh ./amd-catalyst-13.4-linux-x86.x86_64.run
The wizard then confirm the installation of new drivers, and at the end type:
- sudo aticonfig - initial-f
